Honestly, I never really planned to take this much time off between posts, but life (and a new job I love) had other ideas.
During my time away, I thought about stopping altogether. Social media has changed. Remember when Instagram and Facebook were just friends and family sharing pictures and adventures?
Now I’m constantly inundated with influencers and digital creators (or whatever they’re called now) trying to pimp a product or service. Let’s not even get into the oversharing, or people pretending to be experts on topics they barely understand. I’m pretty sure any kind of fact-checking on these platforms has gone right out the window.
But I still have a lot of stories to share – about passionate people who are making a mark in their industry and communities.
In this age of social media, I think we’ve lost sight of what it really takes to be successful. It’s not about likes, views, or shares. It’s about learning your craft, staying committed and putting in the time.
Success isn’t easy.
Side note: I do need to fix a few things on the back end of the blog – it’s looking a little wonky right now. But that’ll happen when it happens. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
My love of storytelling
Post date: October 16, 2024
I can’t believe it’s been over a decade since I started this blog. It’s gone through a few updates and logo makeovers.
I love telling people’s stories.
Along the way, I’ve met some amazing people—across different industries—many of whom I now consider friends, even if we’ve never met in person.
Over the past decade, social media has shifted. Attention spans are getting shorter, and feeds are packed with content creators focused on likes and followers.
That’s not me.
I want to create content that matters to me. I love writing editorial pieces, meeting new people, and sharing their stories, even though these posts take time. I’m still passionate about them, so while they might not come as often, I’ll keep creating them.
That said, having a blog means you always need content. So, I’ve been thinking about how to keep doing what I love while balancing it all.
It’s time for a change.

That’s why I’m turning #b3feature, something I’ve been doing for years on Instagram, into blog posts. These posts will feature people I admire, beauty professionals, female entrepreneurs, and topics I believe deserve more attention. In short, I’m focusing on what I care about most.
