“The right hairstyle can make a plain woman beautiful and a beautiful woman unforgettable.”
– Sophia Loren
The love for hair is in my blood.
I have generations of hairdressers in my family, including my mother. Hair salons were a part of my childhood—the sound of a hairdryer, funny as it may be, is one of the most comforting sounds in the world to me. And I love the smell of my hair once it’s been blow-dried after a color.
Most women I know, at least, will agree that there is nothing worse than having a bad hair day. It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing; if your hair doesn’t look good, your outfit just seems to disappear. With the thousands of hair products out there, finding the perfect match for your hair type is a daunting task. So, if this blog can make that task a little easier, I have accomplished my goal.
What is it like to have a mother who is a hairstylist?
She is always looking at people’s hair. Always. One time, I was at her house and had the TV on the NFL Network. I left the room, and when I came back, there she was, staring at the TV. I looked to see who she could possibly be so interested in. There was a female correspondent on air. I looked at her and said, “You’re looking at her hair, aren’t you?” She turned away from the TV. “Yes, I am.”
The saying, “You eventually turn into your mother,” is true in this case, at least, because I find myself doing the same thing.
