The struggle is real.

Keeping your hair bold and bright, when you are a blonde, can be a struggle. You need to have the right routine in order to prevent your hair color from becoming dull and brassy.

This is a REPOST from Savanna Chiodo’s HOW TO Instagram stories.

In this series, she shares how she washes her blonde hair and the products she uses.

Essentially I wash my hair with 3 different cycles of products. Mostly because I’m blonde (for me) right now and I want to keep it as healthy as possible and ensure it has enough moisture and hydration!

And also making sure I keep my blonde bright and not dull looking!

I have fine-medium hair strands but a lot of hair. I wash my hair every 5-6 days to keep my hair healthy and the colour looking fresh as long as possible!

CYCLE ONE

– 1 x clarifying shampoo

– 1 x colour safe shampoo

– conditioner/mask

CYCLE TWO

– clarifying shampoo

– scalp scrub

– scalp wash

– conditioning mask/purple conditioning mask

CYCLE THREE

– Olaplex system (1 x a month)

NIOXIN | CLARIFYING CLEANSER

This is a cult classic I truly can’t live without. It leaves my hair and scalp feeling super clean and gets rid of any build up, oils, and product.

I use it as a pre-wash.

KEVIN.MURPHY | MAXI.WASH

My other go-to for clarifying. I use this when my hair isn’t AS dirty. To be honest this is colour safe and works great as just a regular shampoo too!

KEVIN.MURPHY is all ocean waste plastic packaging ; paraben, sulfate and cruelty free, and is very good for sensitive heads.

KEVIN.MURPHY | ANGEL.WASH

My current colour safe – regular wash. Great for fine-medium hair.

Does not leave my hair feeling too heavy at all. Super light and clean and easy to style after I use this!

KEVIN.MURPHY | SCALP.SPA SCRUB

My absolute favourite addition to my hair care routine. As someone who only washes 1x a week with a lot of hair I don’t know how I lived without this step before.

I usually clarify first (if I used a lot of styling products) if not you can skip that step.

I use a scalp brush from SEPHORA to emulsify the beads into my scalp. It’s just like an exfoliator for your face, but for your scalp.

My scalp feels so clean after – just like it can breathe. This also helps with dry scalp and dandruff. I highly recommend investing in a scalp scrub!

KEVIN.MURPHY | SCALP.SPA WASH

This one comes as a pair with a micellar wash, to help foam and dissolve the beads from the exfoliant.

Also smells soooo fresh and so good!

KEVIN.MURPHY | BLONDE.ANGEL

I use this as a purple mask.

OLAPLEX | No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo

OLAPLEX | No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner

I typically use these as a treatment once a month. If my hair was suffering or more damaged I would use this as a regular system every time I wash until it feels healed. I just think it’s great for regular blonde maintenance.

OLAPLEX | No. 3 Hair Perfector

You could use this beforehand for extra care and love! This helps to rebuild the bonds in your hair making it feel stronger, moisturized and looks smooth and shiny.

OLAPLEX | No. 8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask

I alternate this mask with the OLAPLEX conditioner. Not really necessary but I wanted to try it. I like this, but I don’t love it.

OLAPLEX | No. 4P Blonde Enhancer Toning Shampoo

I’ve only used this once so far but I’m into it! It doesn’t dry my hair and it is super pigmented.

Definitely won’t use this more than once or twice a month.

[ honourable mention ]

amika | the kure

Before I cut my hair, I was having breakage from doing my $$ piece so often. I found this really helped to smooth and literally repair my hair as best as it could. I feel like this is good for anyone who is super bright, global bleach out, or styles their hair a lot!

– I always make sure I wash my hair twice.

– I leave purple shampoos in for longer periods of time (5-10 minutes), less often so my blonde stays bright and doesn’t become over toned and dull.

– I use all professional, salon quality products.

– Mostly, I just put the love and care into my hair that it deserves, and you should too! Especially after investing the money to colour it!

If you liked this and are curious to know my after care products & styling routine or what I get done to my colour/cut let me know!
