Listen to your Mother.

I think most of us have heard that at least once (or hundred times) in our life.

They always have advice to give – regardless of the subject – and when you’re not feeling well or troubled they always seem to know how to make things better.

This year Mother’s Day falls on Sunday, May 8th – so that gives everyone plenty of time to prepare for this very special day.

Mothers will always love and cherish the handmade cards, kisses from their kids, breakfast in bed and flowers. However, there are some other things that some Mother’s may also want as well.

I’m not a Mother myself – but I do know many and the next part of this post seems pretty accurate.

I came across an article by Parents Magazine titled How Moms Really Want to Spend Mother’s Day in 2021.

The top three gifts on the wish list were: sleep (30%), alone time (30%), spa day or massage (11%).

So traditional gifts aside – here are some additional ideas to consider.

GIFT IDEA NO.1 : A HEAVENLY EXPERIENCE

wash & style | plus a head massage (add-on-service)

One of my favorite things in life is getting my hair shampooed and blown out. It’s such a relaxing experience.

Put your phone away. Just close your eyes, clear your mind and forget about everything for a little while and let the Stylist pamper you.

Plus we all know good hair days are everything.

SUPPORT LOCAL : Texture Hair has a Mother’s Day promo – receive an extra $20 for every $100 purchased in gift cards.

BONUS: There is plenty of free parking available so there is no need to worry about finding a spot or feeding the meter! Also as a member of Green Circle Salons, Texture Hair is a certified sustainable salon.

GIFT IDEA NO.2 : LET HER GLOW

Facials are a great form of relaxation – they will make your skin look and feel great.

SUPPORT LOCAL : The Upkeep Shoppe is a female owned, award-winning spa in my neighborhood that offers a wide range of facials and facial programs. The website has a great description of each facial/package – making it much easier to pick a service.

BONUS: The shop is located beside some great coffee shops and restaurants – an opportunity for a post facial treat.

GIFT IDEA NO.3 : MANI + PEDI

Spring is here and sandal season is upon us.

I love treating myself to manicures or pedicures because they make me feel so – well – polished.

It is something small but it makes a huge difference. I like getting shellac or dip powder because they last longer.

Some shops offer hand/arm and foot/leg massages – which have this magical way of decreasing anxiety and stress instantly. #IYKYN

Then you can get all the little extras too to make it a deluxe experience : hot towel treatment, exfoliation treatment, paraffin treatment or hot stones.

NOTES…

Upkeep Shoppe also offers manicures/pedicures and spa packages.

Another one stop spa that I have been to a few times is called the TEN SPOT. They use dermalogica® professional-grade skincare products – your facial will be tailored to your skin type and needs. They also have a quickie facial – when you want to treat yourself but are short on time.
