I came across an article online about washing your face.

It seems pretty simple – right?

Why would I bother reading an article about it? Well, apparently there are some common mistakes people make – without even knowing it. So I thought I’d share them with you.

Clean hands.

You wouldn’t use a dirty paper towel to wipe the kitchen counters – so don’t use dirty hands to wash your face.

Wash and rinse.

In the morning and at night. Twice.

Never go to bed with a dirty face.

Rinse with tepid water. You need to remove any product residue from your skin.

This will not only make your skin look better – but exfoliated skin will help absorb product better too.

Let’s look at why…

Dead cells.

Sounds gross right?

Well they accumulate on the skin’s surface and leave it looking washed out. It’s like a wooden table. If it’s dusty – it looks dull. Remove the dust – it looks shiny.

Pat – don’t rub.

Pat your face dry with a clean towel. Rubbing your face pulls the skin – you want to preserve it’s elastin.

Elastin is a highly elastic protein in connective tissue and allows many tissues in the body to resume their shape after stretching or contracting.

Don’t wait to moisturize.

You want your skin to absorb the cream to help seal in moisture – so apply creams, serums etc. while your skin is still damp. If you wait – it will make it harder for your skin to absorb the product – leaving it feeling greasy.
