Today, everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer.

Rebecca Hollingsworth and her sister Mary Ellen Hughson were both diagnosed with breast cancer in the same week. Now they’re raising money for a sophisticated MRI machine to help diagnose cancer in other patients.

Spearheaded by Eli Saikaley of Silver Scissors Salon, hair salon owners and hairdressers in Ottawa are rallying together to support their cause.

On October 25th these 12 hair salons will participate in a #cutforacure  in support of the #treeofhopecampaign.

I think what these salons are doing is amazing, it’s a great example of what kind of people are in this industry – so generous and always taking the time to pay it forward.

Please support them in their efforts.

Here is a list of the participating salon.

Opening Jet Black Hair & Studio gave us the opportunity to make a bigger impact on our community through charity. From our work sponsoring a couple of families every Christmas to all the charitable organizations we provide donations to throughout the year, it is always our pleasure to help where we can. We think wherever you look, everyone has been touched by someone who has been diagnosed with cancer, for us and our staff this event strikes a personal chord and it is our pleasure to participate.

Everyone of us at Water Salon and Spa have at some point in our lives been affected by cancer. More specifically breast cancer. What better way to show our support for breast cancer month than to join the effort with other salons in Ottawa to raise funds and awareness. We’re proud to be part of this team and look forward to participating in the future.

Cut for the Cure is uplifting for all involved. For those who’ll benefit from the research that it will help make possible, we hope, but also for the Ottawa hair salons pooling their talent and kindness to help fight cancer. On October 25th, many of our stylists will have bigger smiles on their faces as they serve their clients, knowing that their tips, added to the salons’ contributions, might help find a cure.
