Our planet is in crisis. Climate change is driving it to a dangerous tipping point. We must act now to help recover the damage done.

The important thing to remember is that you can make a difference. Each choice you and your family make every day – can have an impact on saving the planet.

How you shop, where you shop, which businesses you support – even the salon you go to.

The beauty industry sends 877 pounds of waste to the landfill every single minute.

So anything the industry can do, to repurposed or recycle waste, will have a massive impact, especially when it is done in unity.

Green Circle Salons (GCS) are pioneers in the beauty industry. They are the first sustainable salon solution dedicated to recycling, recovering an repurposing beauty waste from salons.

The GCS program empowers salons to recover up to 95% of their beauty waste. That includes previously unrecoverable materials and hard-to-recycle items like hair clippings, foils, excess hair color, aerosol cans, and color tubes.

They help keep the planet beautiful.
6,610,908 lbs

As of 8:00 am June 23rd, this number represents the total amount of beauty waste the GCS program has kept out of landfills and waterways since 2009.

I think that is amazing!

This is why, when I do need to visit a salon, it’s really important to me that they are part of this important initiative. Beautiful hair is important but having a beautiful planet for all my nieces, nephews, family and friends is important too.

Covid-19 is having a massive impact on the beauty industry and in particular the day-to-day practices.

Salon visits look very different than they did at the beginning of March.
In order to protect guests and staff, health and safety protocols have been enhanced.

Disposable capes/gowns, masks, face shields, gloves, disinfectant wipes – the amount of new waste being generated is significant.

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important to consumers. Being socially responsible is no longer just a nice to have for businesses but a must have.

In a recent study by IBM and the National Retail Federation, nearly 70% of consumers in the U.S. and Canada think it is important that a brand is sustainable or eco-friendly.

Everywhere PPE is being worn, recoverable waste is being generated.

GCS PPE Recovery Initiative

This initiative has been created as a simple and affordable solution to the growing waste problem.

This allows beauty businesses to keep their staff and guests safe without a single new item entering the landfill.
