Have you ever gone shopping for make-up brushes?

Eye brushes, face brushes, lip brushes, narrow, wide, short, long – there are so many types too choose from.

The good news is – unless you’re a make-up artist – you really only need a few.

Most articles I’ve read said there are 1013 you should have in your makeup kit.

I only use four on a daily basis. I’ve shared how I use them below.

Sephora Pro Brow Comb #21: Brush/groom brows.
QUO Professional Shader Brush: Blend harsh eyeshadow lines/apply lighter eyeshadow below brow line.
M·A·C #228 Mini Shader Brush: Apply eyeshadow to lid.
QUO Crease Shadow Brush: Smudge eyeliner and blend dark eyeshow on outer lid.

Then of course there are those brushes that I use once in a blue moon – let’s just call them impulse buys. I tend to use the tips of my fingers a lot too when I apply makeup.

TIP: Don’t forget to clean your brushes! Just like anything else they get dirty – bits of makeup, bacteria which can lead to clogged pores and breakouts.

Good news – cleaning them is super easy and quick.

  1. Run your brushes under lukewarm water to get rid of any residual makeup.
  2. Put a squirt of shampoo in a bowl of lukewarm water and then gently massage the brush tip.
  3. Rinse brush tip under lukewarm running water.
  4. Use a paper towel to wipe the brush clean and reshape the bristles. Then lay them flat on a cloth to dry.
