Artistry comes in all forms. Not every artist uses a paintbrush and canvass.
The Google Art Project – Street Art puts the spotlight on street artists – telling their stories, allowing you to explore collections from around the world.
Street art, in my opinion, can be as beautiful and breathtaking as anything in any art gallery – I feel the same way about hair art whether it is haute couture or ready-to-wear. So this is why I look forward to the TrendVision Awards every year.
The Wella Professionals TrendVision Awards is one of the most prestigious events in the hair industry. It allows stylists the opportunity to think outside the box and offers creative freedom – it brings the craft of hairdressing to life in a completely different way.
Up and coming stylists and masters of the craft are offered a platform to showcase their work to the industry and their peers. Stylists can compete in three categories: Color Vision, Young Talent or Student. The Color Vision, the Young Talent and the Student category will each be awarded a Gold, Silver and Bronze award at the North America TrendVision Final.
I love this competition because each look tells a story – hair, makeup, wardrobe – bring the stylists vision to life. The end result – walking art.
Once again Ottawa has let it’s voice be heard with 8 stylists heading to the Canadian TrendVision Award competition in Montreal on June 8th – building a great case for our city becoming Canada’s – Hair Capital.
Five of the stylists from Ottawa are from Texture Hair Salon. What is their secret? Owner and semi-finalist Ramsey Sayah says:
“We work on educating our stylists and giving them opportunities to grow through education, competition and travel. This allows them to see and think outside the box.”
Good luck to all the stylist competing – and a special shout out to those stylist from Ottawa: Texture Hair Salon, Scissors Hair Studio and Jet Black Hair & Studio.
As with any competition not everyone who enters – can place. Here is Hannah Currie’s entry. We have featured her before. Her passion for her career shows in everything she does – she is definitely making her mark on the industry – with so much more to come.
