All good things come with time.
I think we have all heard one version or another of this saying.
When it comes to fitness, other than wanting to maintain a healthy lifestyle, I try to have some goal to work towards. Having a physique like Jennifer Lopez for example – I mean really – she looks better with age.
No overnight successes.
Achieving any fitness goal (abs, shelf butt) won’t happen with one session at the gym. It’s just common sense.
Can you imagine going into the gym and telling a Trainer that you expect to have your ideal body in one session?
It’s TOTALLY absurd right?!
Effort and dedication.
Any fitness goal you set for yourself will take going to the gym a few days a week and eating right. Then, once your goal is achieved it’s all about maintenance.
‘Silver’ hair has been trending over the past few years.
Both women and men have embraced the silver/platinum hair color. While not everyone can pull the look off, when it is done right, it looks amazing.
Just like with fitness goals, the biggest challenge with this look is that it takes time.
It is not going to happen with one appointment to the salon.
Once again, I reached out to my friend and Master Stylist Ziad El-Zoor for a professionals’ point of view.
Let’s stick to one example. If someone wanted to go from dark to silver – what would that take?
It’s going to be expensive and it won’t happen overnight. On average, although every client will be different, it will take 4-5 appointments and could run anywhere between $800.00 to $1,000.00.
The other thing is that there is a lot of maintenance with this look. You have to come in for toners and you’ll need to use a special shampoo and conditioner to maintain the color.
One of my all-time favorite looks you’ve done was featured on Shared:
Do you find people tend to see these things and have unrealistic expectations?
Expectations are too high a lot of the times. I love what I do – I want my clients to look amazing every time they leave the salon. So, I am always really honest. I let them know what is achievable. For this look – if the process is rushed, it will damage your hair – leaving it dry and prone to breakage.
Thinking your hair will look like a picture on Instagram isn’t realistic.
People use filters, extensions – sometimes it’s not even their hair – it’s a wig. Also, color fades over time. A picture taken a month after a color won’t look the same as when it was first done.

Case in point
P-L-E-A-S-E listen to the advice your Stylist gives you. They want to make you happy but they are not magicians. Arguing with them or not listening to their professional opinion won’t change the truth of the matter.
We all know how amazing it feels to have a good hair day or the perfect hair color or cut.
Let your Stylist give it to you.
