It’s that time of year again.
Next month one of the biggest events in the hair industry – the North American Trend Vision Awards (NATVA) – will take place in the land where dreams come true – Los Angeles.
Every year we do a feature on this competition – it’s my favorite award show. It has evolved over the years and the talent just gets better and better.
For those of you who follow our blog, you know that I have an immense respect for hair stylists and the craft of hairdressing. I consider the avante garde looks they create art. In fact, I have some hanging on the walls of my home.
Last month, the 15 semi-finalists in both the Creative Vision and Color Vision category, whose entries are picture below, convened in Toronto for the Canadian Trend Vision Awards.

This year Ottawa is sending seven finalist to NATVA. It’s really amazing when you stop and think about it!
Texture Hair Salon, a familiar face to this competition, has four stylists heading to L.A. The salon has established itself as a mecca for Canadian talent in the hair industry.
These seven are proof of the immense talent our city has to offer.
Canadian Philip Ferreira, won gold in the color category in 2012 at the International Trend Vision Awards. With Canada 150 – this may be our lucky year to repeat.
The finalists from the United States will be announced June 8th – so stay tuned for a follow-up post.
